The Japan Public Affairs Association (JPAA) held “Public Affairs Healthcare Forum 2019”on 18th September in Tokyo. 

　The guest speaker is Mark McClellan, Director and Robert J. Margolis, MD, Professor of Business, Medicine and Policy of Duke University. Dr. McClellan is the first person to have served as both Commissioner of the FDA (2002-2004) and Administrator for the CMS (2004-2006). He won the prestigious Arrow Award twice for outstanding research in Health Economics. Dr. McClellan served as a member of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors under President George W. Bush and as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy under President Bill Clinton.

　In this forum, Dr McClellan gave us his presentation from his perspective based on his knowledge of US healthcare system.
